Mitchell's research focuses on the experimental analysis of cross-frequency interactions between thermoacoustic and hydrodynamic instabilities within gas turbine combustors. As part of this work, Mitchell collaborates with GE to perform experiments using advanced optical diagnostics on model combustors operating at flight relevant conditions.
