Facility Overview

The Ben T. Zinn Combustion Lab at Georgia Tech is an 20,000 square foot, academic research facility, dedicated to using the latest diagnostic tools for the study of combustion and related fluid mechanical phenomena. The lab is equipped with an open laboratory with a number of test stations, each equipped with electrical power, intermediate-pressure air supply, pressurized natural gas, domestic and chilled water supplies, and an exhaust system capable of handling up to 25 MBtu/hour. The lab space also consists of isolation rooms, which are equipped similarly to the open lab, but which are optically and acoustically isolated from the rest of the lab. The lab also has four high pressure test cells, each of which is equipped with high pressure, pre-heated air and high-pressure natural gas, in addition to the resources listed for the open laboratory stations. Infrastructure from the Ben T. Zinn Lab also connects to the Carbon Neutral Energy Solutions Laboratory where there are two additional high pressure labs and two additional isolation labs, sharing a central control room.
